Rising damp devices: compare the options, installation and price
November 5, 2026Installation and decoration are separate stages
Repainting after wall drying is easier to plan when the device installation and the decorative work are treated as different tasks. Installing equipment intended for rising damp does not make an old finish ready for paint immediately. The masonry, existing plaster and selected coating each play a part in preparing a suitable support.
Why drying time varies
The amount of moisture held in a wall, its thickness and the materials affect its evolution. Temperature, ventilation and coatings can also influence the conditions. There is no single drying period that applies to every property. A surface that looks better does not necessarily describe the full thickness of the wall. Avoid choosing a finishing date solely because the installation was completed recently.
Understand what the device is for
Help Humidité offers ATE and ATG equipment for walls affected by rising damp. ATE devices connect to the mains; ATG devices operate without an electricity supply. The model is chosen according to its coverage and the building layout. A device for capillarity does not replace the repair of a leak, and repainting does not resolve condensation or water entry on its own.
Follow the equipment and finishing instructions
Customers install their device using its manual and the advice provided. Keep those instructions distinct from the requirements of a plaster or paint manufacturer. For decorative work, use a product compatible with the support and its condition, and follow the preparation and drying requirements stated for that finish. New decoration should be planned around the wall rather than used simply to hide damaged areas.
Choose the model before planning the room makeover
The ATE and ATG product pages provide the specifications and documents needed to compare references. Read the rising damp information to understand their application. For questions about selecting or positioning the equipment, the Help Humidité team provides product advice. This lets you prepare the installation while giving the materials the time and suitable finish they need.
