Choosing a wall drying device: why the floor plan matters more than floor area
October 24, 2026The words damp treatment device cover different products. First write down whether the problem concerns the air in the room, the wall materials, or both.
Before choosing equipment, prepare a plan and dated photographs. Help Humidité provides product pages and instructions so you can examine the reference and positioning before purchase. If the moisture cause remains uncertain, clarify it before deciding on treatment and identify any independent repairs still needed.
Which function are you comparing?
An absorber or dehumidifier concerns indoor air. An ATE or ATG is offered for masonry affected by rising damp. It should not be understood as a water collector or a replacement for ventilation. Different mechanisms can coexist in the same room, so separate the observations before buying. One symptom should not be used as an explanation for every damp issue throughout the house.
Position and model selection
Installation must follow the instructions for the reference. ATE models use mains power; ATG models work without electricity and have their own positioning requirements. Moving the enclosure randomly between rooms is not a coherent test. Prepare a plan showing dimensions and affected walls, then compare coverage and use requirements. The exterior appearance of a device does not identify which model is appropriate for the building layout.
Before you decide
- Document the walls and possible water sources.
- Check the model and installation instructions.
- Separate fitting, monitoring and reinstatement of finishes.
A practical question
Do these devices have a tank to empty?
ATE and ATG are not used as tank-based water collection equipment. Check the function described in the model documentation.
Compare our wall drying devices
The range includes mains-powered ATE LC15, ATE LC30, ATE LC30 PULSE and ATE MAX, alongside ATG LC15 and ATG LC30 without electricity. The devices are manufactured in Castres, France. Compare the diameter with the building layout and follow the instructions. The manufacturer’s 10-year warranty applies under its conditions. The device does not replace independent interventions on leaks, penetrating water or ventilation.
