15 metres across is not 15 m²: a coverage mistake to avoid

A device described as having a coverage diameter of 15 metres is not being described as covering 15 m². Confusing the units can distort a comparison before you even consider the technology. Start by checking the measurement used on each product page.

Diameter, radius and area are different

The diameter passes through the centre of a circle. The radius is half that distance: a 15-metre diameter gives a radius of 7.5 metres. The geometrical area of the disc is about 177 m², but that calculation is not a guarantee of treating a building with that floor area.

A long floor plan, several storeys and an off-centre installation cannot be reduced to a single area figure. Compare the actual layout with the conditions in the model’s instructions.

What to mark on your building plan

  • The outside dimensions of each affected level.
  • The location of damp walls and their known thickness.
  • The proposed installation position.
  • Whether a suitable electricity supply is available.
  • The identified moisture source or checks still required.

Compare the range using the right units

The range includes mains-powered ATE LC15, ATE LC30, ATE MAX and ATE LC30 PULSE devices, alongside ATG LC15 and ATG LC30 models that operate without an electrical supply. Check each model’s current product page and manual for its diameter and installation requirements.

These devices are offered for rising damp. They do not replace necessary repairs for leaks, water ingress or condensation problems.

Before ordering, send a dimensioned plan and photographs rather than choosing solely from your home’s total floor area.
